FV 2023/Student _ A Design Led Policy Framework for E-textiles Waste

My PhD research is all about creating a design led waste policy framework for e-textiles.

Electronic Textiles (e-textiles) are a combination of textiles, electronics and nano materials which are being launched into a legislative vacuum with potentially harmful consequences to the environment, flor

Textile waste is a growing problem globally, despite innovation in recycling and circular aspirations. Alongside that, electronic waste (e-waste) continues to grow despite Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment legislation (WEEE). Nano materials are in their infancy and although risk assessment exists recovery is not yet central to their use and regulation.

IMPACT
Raise the issue through the UK parliamentary system questioning the government on their proposed actions in this space, leading to textiles waste in all forms being regulated with e-textiles as the central catalyst.
To energise and instigate a new recycling infrastructure for the UK, leading to research and innovation in recycling technologies potentially putting the UK at the forefront of circular implementation and innovation, providing new areas of expertise and employment.
