I was always interested in subjects that exert the sense of community. These topics due to constant and organic relations within a community have various levels and dimensions. Hence, more layers to discover and be inspired by. Roughly translated, Zooekhaneh means “house of strength”. It’s an ancient
Iranian gym that was established when occupiers banned combat training for Iranians, and people started to train their bodies and minds in underground sports clubs. For this reason, the training tools are unique in shape and how they’re used. They almost resemble ancient weaponry like maces, bows, and shields. I perceived Zoorkhaneh as a place that wants to make us ready to fight the obstacles we encounter in life. A complete package that trains your body with the workout in exchange to be committed to the community’s values; being humble and noble, lifting up and taking care of the weak and defend their rights, and be of the people despite your physical power and abilities.
Sustainability
I implemented sustainable practices in this project—using natural fiber (100% linen), durable fabrics, unisex items, low water consumption dying process, appropriate disposal of waste (especially copper which is harmful to plants since it's used in pesticides), and so on.
