Blooming Ground

The human activities from the 2 last centuries massively contaminated the soil with pesticides, pharmaceuticals, solvents, heavy-metals etc.…
This pollution generates major impairments for the environment and health.

Some plants have the ability to draw or degrade most of these pollutants. They a

re used in rehabilitation processes called phytoremediation.
These natural and sustainable techniques are some of the most promising for the rehabilitation of the soils. However, its development is limited by the lack of valorization of its harvest.
As some of the plants that draw the pollutants will accumulate them in their leaves, if the harvest is not used, the contamination remains.
Moreover the processes take between a year and decades which can be discouraging when the area is supposed to receive a lucrative business

Thus it is essential to explore the possible uses of these plants and develop an economy around it, in order to increase the value of phytoremediation processes.

Blooming Ground is an overview of the elements necessary to the understanding of the problems and its treatment through the plants but also to develop new projects of phytoremediation.
It maps the polluted sites in France with their pollutants, the specific remediation plants present on the site and what we could do with them according to the local resources (material, human and industrial).

The visitor can explore each aspect of the phytoremediation, follow the new projects and may soon buy tiles, vases, carpets and other products made out of plants to support the rehabilitation of the pollution next door, the favorite holiday spot or own ground…
