The Tropical Garden

A sustainable management of the tropical rainforests and the enlargment of its valued wood species can preserve the biodivesity and develop the incomes of local populations.
The Tropical Garden is a collection of benches that highlight the wood diversity of the Amazon forest.

est is a living system that regenerates continually according to a specific succession of cycles.
Trees fall naturally leaving the place to a new cycle with new tree species etc.
The sustainable forestry consists to harvest the trees when they are the most valuable and before they fall.
The selection of trees to chop down follows the market demand. Without demand the forests don't generated incomes and get cleared to develop other economies, as the agriculture or mining.
Thus the use of tropical woods increase the value of the forests and can preserve it against deforestation.

Developed as outdoor benches, each of them is based of 3 types of woods with specific characteristics that follow the functional criteria of an outdoor use (as water resistance, floor contact or wood stability). The production has been thought as a diverse production resulting of the forest potential and its timber production, each bench is different by its woods combination. These multiple combinations allow any timber specie to be used. Gathered they reveal the richness of the tropical forest and aim to act as a tropical garden that would feed our need of nature.
The species missing the international market, which represent 80 % of the Amazon forest could be use locally to produce those bench, valorizing the diversity of species, as well as the forest, creating local incomes and possibly help to save the forest.
