Voice Becomes Form #GPID2026

Voice Becomes Form

I do not experience sound in a conventional way.
As a hard-of-hearing designer, I perceive the environment through vibration, touch, and physical awareness.

This project explores how voice can be translated into a tactile language.
Sound is not treated as something to hear, but a

...

s something to feel, interpret, and reconstruct.

Using neurographic drawing as a method of interpretation, vocal input is transformed into organic structures, which are then materialized through 3D printing.

This production process allows for precision and reduced material waste, as material is used only where necessary. The bags are produced using PLA filament and combined with vegan leather, supporting a reduced-waste, material-conscious approach to production.

The project also addresses accessibility through its physical design. The open, organic structure allows for multiple points of grip and interaction, enabling different ways of holding and carrying the object depending on the user’s needs.

The tactile surface prioritises touch over visual or auditory cues, offering an alternative sensory experience for users with hearing impairments.

In addition, the modular construction — with a replaceable inner pouch and handle — allows the object to be adapted, repaired, and adjusted over time, supporting long-term usability across different physical conditions.

The result is a series of sculptural bags ,objects that exist between accessory and sensory ,device allowing sound to become physical, and perception to become form.
