My Graduate collection 'Lumps & Bumps' is a fusion of the real and the surreal. Inspired by paintings by Ambera Wellmann, the collection explores the feminine silhouette in sculptural forms, while still maintaining recognizable illusions of shape.
Through textile manipulation and print, the collectio
n aims to create a sense of movement and disappearance — referencing both the body and the way it is depicted in her paintings.
The collection also draws on the sensual tension of 80s Wolford commercials, where stretchy materials cling and release to create a shifting dialogue between body and fabric. In contrast, the radical silhouettes of 80s Comme des Garçons inform the sculptural exaggerations — reshaping the body into forms that feel both familiar and otherworldly. Together, these inspirations amplify the collection’s exploration of transformation and perception.
This project uses experimental textile manipulation and layered prints to alter the perception of the feminine silhouette.
Optical in the way prints and textures create shapes that seem to emerge, shift, or vanish depending on perspective.
The result is a body in flux: shapes emerge and dissolve, echoing the unstable ways we perceive the body in contemporary visual culture.
