Personal interview with Dal Chodha regarding the current and the future of the fashion scene.

Storytelling is the core of my work, it’s a way to show who we are and how we feel. I see clothing not just as a visual art form, but as an emotional language of self-expression. I believe a garment has the power to reflect a mood, identity, or personal narrative. I aim to create pieces that form a d
eeper emotional connection with the person wearing them. I like to explore illusions and movement in both pattern cutting and textiles, often working beyond traditional techniques.
To me a great design has a surface and tactile feel that makes you either want to touch it or instinctively keep your distance. I’m drawn to textiles that comfort, but also to those that carry a sense of disguise. In my surface design work, I often try to combine or contrast these feelings — crafting garments that evoke emotion through texture and illusion.
I work primarily with materials and visual effects that speak to the emotions, encouraging introspection and interaction. I like combining different techniques such as felting, knitting, multidimensional printmaking, hand sewing and self invented methods. This led me to take my internship during my 3rd year at Ruby Hung in London and explore a wider fashion scene, followed by a 2nd internship at Gabi Gamél in Copenhagen.
My ambitions in the fashion industry have led me to become the Creative Director and Producer of the SAFD Graduate Show at CPHFW SS26 this August, showcasing my own garments, while also assisting with styling and casting alongside Maya Soul Paustian.
I aspire to pursue my dream of telling stories through my work—stories where the garment and the wearer become part of a narrative that continues over time. I hope to create beautiful pieces worth collecting, each carrying meaning beyond its form.
My primary goal is to gain experience in high fashion and, eventually, build my own brand. As I move into this next stage of my journey, I am eager to learn from some of the most inspiring people in the industry and to grow alongside the next generation shaping the future fashion scene.
