When I grow up, I wanna be a superhero

What child has never dreamed of having superpowers? Flying, breathing underwater, becoming invisible, passing through walls or shooting laser beams, this is what I dreamed of. I imagined, I fantasised about unknown, unexplored and fantastic worlds where the natural body is no longer a limit and gives

way to supernatural bodies, outside our bland daily life. I escape from reality, leaving it for wonder-filled, idealised fiction. Divinised and fantasised, strong heroic female figures from my childhood inspire me. This feeling of omnipotence and the absence of weakness allow us to always draw strength from within ourselves, in all situations, in order to finally defeat our enemies. Since I was a child, rocked by the Marvel universe, between video games, pop culture and Japanese manga, I idealised these women I looked up to. Whether it was Storm from X-men, Elektra, Poison Ivy, Lara Croft, Leeloo, Temari and Konan from Naruto, Nina Williams and Ling Xiaoyu from Tekken 3, all of these women have led me to where I am today. Their natural bodies, altered by a genetic mutation or a triggering event, are made fantastic and supernatural. This collection is an expression of these strong characters, endowed with powers capable of putting down any opponent. In the face of adversity, I have shoulders wide enough to stand alone and conquer. “Don’t fuck with me or I’ll kill you.” Like a maelstrom, the line work runs through the body and represents this inner power: a flaming or green aura, deadly touch, fiery breath, conversion of energies and invulnerability.
