In The Wind explores the dynamics between body and cloth and its effect on one’s cultural identity. The collection stems from my childhood memories and infused with my grandparents’ immigration story as depicted in the family’s photo album.
My story is embedded in fabric manipulations that follow c
ross-cultural elements found in traditional garments. Embodying the interactions between cloth and body, body and body, and draws parallelism between the movement of the one and the movement of a group in the form of immigration, and the inevitable mixture of traditional backgrounds and rituals.
