Emma Blythe is an American designer and upcyclist currently researching menswear through a feminist gaze. As a female designer of menswear, her work is rooted within her own experiences with gender inequality and expression.
Aware of the power of emotional memory and the need for slow, sustainable
fashion, Emma Blythe looks for ways to repurpose old and used items that she finds expressive, and subverts their original purpose in order to re-imagine a positive future with items from a recognisable past.
Currently working and making in East London, Emma Blythe’s practice crosses fields of garment design, sculpture, and film.
MA Fashion Menswear at the RCA looks for and encourages a fearless approach to creative expression, fanatical technique and an informed outlook. The Programme focuses on strengthening this spirit of exploration through unique expertise and a polymathic debate with modern global awareness.
