Roxane Lahidji
Eyes on Talents member, Roxane Lahidji is an artist and designer with a long-standing commitment to social and environmentally conscious design. One of her iconic pieces, the Joga low table designed in 2021 and inspired by the symbolic language of cold and sharp landscapes, was acquired by the Musée des Arts décoratifs. Made from an innovative material based on sea salt, the Joga low table is part of one of Roxane Lahidji's most remarkable projects, Marbled Salts. During her residency at the Musée des Arts décoratifs, director Anna-Claria Ostasenko delved into this work. In her film, she brings her own cinematic eye to the piece, taking us into the fascinating world of the designer.
"Salt can be tasted, sprinkled, poured and savoured. For Roxane Lahidji, it's something to be looked at, drawn, sculpted and modelled. An alchemist with salt, she transforms this everyday ingredient into a new material, evocative of precious marble or snow melting in the sun on a hot winter's day. We'd like to touch it to feel the crystals, but it's beautiful that the white mirage still resists us a little." Anna-Claria Ostasenko
