Red Rubber Road
Eyes on Talents member, Red Rubber Road, the shared identity of artist duo AnaHell and Nathalie Dreier, celebrated 10 years of collaborative self-portraiture last year. On this occasion, we take a look at their latest project, Almost Something Else, an ongoing work that turns our attention to artificial intelligence and the evolving relationship between humans and machines. By manipulating their bodies through performative self-portraits and in-camera illusions, Red Rubber Road stages encounters with a fictional being shaped by their projections. By mimicking the aesthetics of AI without resorting to AI itself, the work creates a tension between what is real and what feels artificially produced, reflecting a contemporary reality where perception, authorship and reality are blurred and unstable.
