Rikkert Paauw
Eyes on Talents member, Rikkert Paauw, takes part in the group exhibition Re-Use presented at La Traverse gallery in Marseille, until February 23. Curated by Nathalie Dewez, designer, and Catherine Bastide, director of La Traverse, the exhibition presents a selection of creators working on re-use. While we already live surrounded by abandoned treasures that we no longer look at, the exhibition presents a series of objects, accessories and furnishings made entirely from re-used materials. For the exhibition, designer Rikkert Paauw reuses wood to create a table and vases.
Rikkert Paauw is a Brussels-based Dutch designer who, from the outset of his practice, has never stopped giving a second life to discarded materials. Turning each project into a prototype and a unique piece, he cuts, disassembles and reassembles furniture and objects to give them a second life. The result is distinctive, rough-hewn pieces that are at once modest, sophisticated and functional, and that engage their users.
