Reiffers Art initiatives Mentorship
Ugo Rondinone has chosen to collaborate with young French artist Tarek Lakhrissi to form the Mentor - Young talent 2024 duo. Through his works in a variety of formats and media, Ugo Rondinone composes profound meditations on nature and the human condition, while establishing a formal vocabulary that fuses various sculptural and pictorial traditions. As a visual artist and poet, Tarek Lakhrissi develops his practice around different media such as writing, performance, video and sculpture. By exploring poetry, popular culture and emotions, his works redefine an emancipatory imagination and anticipate an equally liberating future. The mentorship exhibition will be unveiled during Art Basel Paris, from 15 October to 16 November.

Prix Dior de la Photographie et des Arts Visuels pour Jeunes Talents
The Prix Dior de la Photographie et des Arts Visuels pour Jeunes Talents this year went to Chia Huang for her Silence is speaking photographic series. A student from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Chia Huang traveled to Taitung, a small town in Taiwan, and photographed two autistic brothers unable to communicate through formal language and living with their sick father. "These poignant, sensitive and painful images manage to decipher their noiseless communication and their body language, while documenting the silent sounds within them," said Dior in a statement.

Prix du dessin contemporain
The Prix du dessin contemporain 2024 was awarded to Mathieu Santori-Lamberti, 4th year student at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, Rielly and Trouvé studios. He will receive an endowment from the association Les Amateurs de dessins des Beaux-Arts de Paris, which will acquire one of his works to enrich the collection of contemporary drawings. Childhood is a predominant subject in his artistic practice, both real and fantastic, and full of enchanting visual traps.

Anna Boghiguian
Prix artmonte-carlo – F.P.Journe
Anna Boghiguian (b.1946), represented by Galleria Franco Noero, is the winner of the Prix artmonte-carlo – F.P.Journe 2024. The selected work has been donated to the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM). Anna Boghiguian interprets the world through the links that run through it: the flows of goods, ideas, capital and people. She reads and travels avidly, channelling her experiences into drawings and texts before throwing them off the page to create complex and evocative installations. Character drawings and crowd scenes on paper function as self-contained shadow puppets. Texts, line drawings, inks, photographs and sculptures intertwine in a chorus of linked stories.

DESIGN
Tramo by SelgasCano and Andreu Carulla
Winner of the Month for June
A garage-turned-restaurant space in Madrid, Tramo orchestrates various reclaimed and upcycle materials to provide guests with a unique gastronomic experience. The SelgasCano and Andreu Carulla project is June's FRAME Awards winner. Initiated by restaurant group Proyectos Conscientes, Tramo is a masterclass in self-sufficient F&B spaces, powered by a series of material-forward interior and furniture interventions. Conceived for self-sufficiency, Tramo makes full use of its existing industrial space – a notable feature being the roof structure supported by slender concrete and steel cable trusses.

Lawrence Lek
Artist Award
London-based artist and filmmaker Lawrence Lek is the recipient of the 2024 Artist Award at Frieze London. In partnership with Forma, the award gives an early- or mid-career artist the opportunity to realize an ambitious new commission. Lek’s work often addresses the moral dilemmas around AI while exploring the creative potential of digital worldbuilding, shot through with dark, absurdist humour (his 2024 work Empty Rider features the televised trial of a self-driving car following a botched kidnapping). His multimedia installation for the Artist Award commission, Guanyin: Confessions of a Former Carebot, follows a cyborg therapist created to save other AI from the brink of self-destruction.
