Louis Barthélemy

Eyes on Talents member, Louis Barthélemy, was commissioned by ISHKAR, a London-based company that collaborates with NGOs and artisans in countries affected by war, to create a capsule collection of rugs, hand-knotted by women weavers in Afghanistan. Recently the subject of an article in M Le magazine du Monde titled, Le designer Louis Barthélemy, passeur d’ailleurs, the project was developed through a collaborative approach with the weavers. Asked to draw a place that symbolises beauty for them, they turned to the medieval garden of Bagh-e-Babur in Kabul. The drawings were then combined to create the patterns for three different rugs, each of them encapsulating "a collective dream of an ancient paradise." says Louis Barthélemy.
