Caroline Besse
Eyes on Talents member, Caroline Besse, is exhibiting at the galerie BY CHATEL in Paris until 1 February. The exhibition, entitled Utopian vision, brings together the artist's hand-crafted mineral works with Alexis Cladière's wooden totem poles. By painting the bright, shimmering colours of crushed minerals on washi paper, Caroline Besse invents a profound material that gives rise to luminous works. Natural materials and geometric shapes come together throughout the exhibition, with particular attention paid to nuance and detail.
Currently creating a mural for the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique in Perth, Australia, Caroline Besse works with light, material and colour. For over twenty years, environmental concerns have been an integral part of her approach, through her choice of traditional processes and natural materials. Winner of the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris en métiers d’art in 2022, in 2023 she carried out a chromatic survey of French minerals with the support of the Institut des Sciences de la Terre de Paris. Next, she will be creating frescoes for the Leflaive wine estate in Bourgogne, based on the mineral palette of their terroir.
