Clémence Elman

Eyes on Talents member, Clémence Elman, photographed, for several months, the meals taken at her grandfather's house, which became the starting point for the narration of her ongoing series Passe moi le sel, tu veux. In the form of a documentary-fiction, Clémence wanders and plays with the 1970s aesthetics of the place. In a retro-futuristic universe frozen in time, she slips into the decor, imagining herself living in this house under different characters. The series raises the question of exoticism and the relationship that her grandfather maintains with the "Elsewhere", as well as questions around the generation gap.
Clémence Elman (b. 1992) is a photographer based in Arles and co-founder of MYTO, an independent publishing house and art collective. She is interested in the construction of identity, our relationship to the "Other" and to our environment. She has just completed a residency at the Centre de la photographie de Mougins. On March 23, she will exhibit at the Hôtel de l'Industrie in Paris, her work If I can make it here, I can make it anywhere which she pursued as part of the grant ENSP «Eurazeo pour la Jeune Création».
