pieces are designed to explore the competition between trees and cars in urban landscapes. Referring back to the ancient system of clay pitcher in-ground irrigation, the vases aesthetically allude to car fuel tanks. The low-tech irrigation system, which is more efficient compared to many common attempts to maintain tree health, also benefits from its simplicity in production, materials and maintenance. While pointing at the many stress factors trees have to endure in a manmade setting, the project symbolically creates a gesture of gratitude and respect.
