Daichi Silent River Tree Sauna
Winner of the month for June
Daichi Silent River Tree Sauna, located in Kanagawa, Japan, is a place that lies between architecture and nature: a structure built without cutting down the surrounding trees, serving both as a place to rest and as a sauna. Architecture typically comes into being by clearing, organizing, and controlling nature. Here, instead of cutting trees, the architecture aligns itself with the “convenience” of the forest. It carries a quiet humility, as if it has been “allowed” to be built. Standing between the natural and the artificial, it proposes a reconsideration of their relationship.

Arc’teryx Alpine Touring Experience Space
Winner of the month for June
Following a particularly high number of submissions, an expanded judging panel has selected two winners for the month of June. The second winner is the Arc’teryx Alpine Touring Experience Space. Building upon Arc’teryx’s ReBIRD™ sustainability program, the Pop-Up Store integrates alpine training, gear rental and care, and a café, all in a rugged hut in the Songhua Lake Ski Resort, in Jilin, China. The jury praised its design’s attention to detail and emphasis on care and re-use.

DAG Prize for Visual Art
Erick Alejandro Hernández, the Cuban-born, US-based artist known for his paintings addressing immigration, grief and displacement, has been named the winner of the DAG Prize for Visual Art. Launched in 2025, the award celebrates an emerging artist whose voice “might otherwise get lost”. Hernández, who is now based in Brooklyn, uses his practice to explore how traditional painting techniques can be altered to better hold complex individual and collective histories.

Bourse du Talent
The Bourse du Talent recognises emerging photographers whose projects explore new documentary approaches. Coco Amardeil's Thérapie de Choc takes the form of a fictional archive, comprising contemporary photographs inspired by historical events. Sebastián Bruno’s work seeks to understand and explore the complexity of human relationships within their political, historical and social contexts. Since June 2023, he has been working with members of The Hive, a centre for adults with autism and learning difficulties based in Bristol, England. With Feu Stalinstadt, Antoine Lecharny presents a project that explores the post-war years, their ideological and heritage legacies, and the current resurgence of hatred and violence in Europe.

The Whitney Museum of American Art has named Pat Oleszko the recipient of the 2026 Bucksbaum Award, which recognizes an artist featured in the Whitney Biennial whose work demonstrates exceptional talent, imagination, and the potential for lasting impact on American art. For more than five decades, Oleszko has developed a singular interdisciplinary practice, using humor and satire to engage urgent social, political, and environmental issues. Her work in Whitney Biennial 2026 includes the monumental inflatable sculpture Blow Hard (1995) and the short film Footsi (1979), on view through August 23.

Mentorat Les Filles de la Photo
In 2020, Les Filles de la Photo launched their mentoring programme to help accelerate the careers of women photographers and support them in their projects and career development. This professional network for women promotes photography through a space for reflection and discussion. This year’s five winners are Romane Bladou, Sarah Makharine, Adeline Rapon, Tianyu Wang and Shanna Warocquier. The projects are diverse, and each winner has her own unique perspective. The themes explored include: adolescence in rural areas, the shift from the personal to the collective, cemeteries, domestic spaces and fire in the age of the climate crisis.

Artists Living with Cancer Grant
Jacolby Satterwhite is the recipient of the inaugural Artists Living with Cancer Grant, presented by the Rema Hort Mann Fund in partnership with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. Satterwhite, who was born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1986 and lives and works in Brooklyn, has been celebrated for a conceptual practice that spans immersive installation, virtual reality, and digital media, engaging themes of ritual, fantasy, freedom, and world-building. Most recently, his six-channel video commission A Metta Prayer was on view in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Great Hall from October 2023 to January 2024.

Anna De Castro Barbosa creates sculptures and installations that explore our relationship with the body, care, desire and our connections with others. Her choice of materials (metal, glass, silicone, leather, lingerie, etc.) evokes a sense of sensuality and sensory experience, whilst at the same time keeping us at a distance by suggesting a possible danger, a fear of contact or a potential emotional attachment. Lou Chenivesse develops a practice that lies between film and installation. Her work explores the figure of the ghost as a threshold between the visible and the invisible, drawing on intimate and family narratives as well as legends.

Frieze London Artist Award
Athens-based artist Theo Triantafyllidis has won the 2026 Frieze London Artist Award. At the fair, Triantafyllidis will present Feral Metaverse (Spider), 2026, a participatory sculptural installation that also functions as an extension of his ongoing multiplayer game. A climbable physical sculpture, it will act as an entry point into a shared digital environment in which players have to cooperate with one another to move, connect and form temporary group bodies – towers, wheels, group hugs, spiders – that emerge through collaborations, expanding from the screen into the space and from the virtual into the real.
