This project consist of an experimentation with leather, using the medieval technique of « boiled leather ». Formed with water then hardened with beeswax, leather acquires new properties while conserving its characteristic look.
Using four moulded pieces I created my first collection of three vas
es in the context of the diploma project at l‘Ecal and mentored by Laura Bethan Wood and Xavier Perrenoud.
The results of theses experimentations with moulded leather inspired me to continue in the search of new shapes and applications.
The next step is to contact brands that produce leather waste, like furniture companies. Applying this technique I used for my first collection of vases, I want to build a self production scenario, the molds and tools to create new pieces.
