Catharina Pavitschitz is an Austrian born, London based photographer, working across womenswear, menswear, still life and beauty.
Diversity and body positivity are key tenants within her work. This includes but is not exclusive to age, size and ethnicity. She is particularly interested in gender ide
ntity, gender performativity and ideas of no gender at all.By confronting conventional ideas of masculinity as well as the portrayal of the female body, she is aiming to challenge the dominant ideology of masculinity and femininity.
Greatly inspired by surrealism, her work often contains dreamlike and abstract elements, looking to distort and elevate reality.
My work is centered around the fluidity and presentation of identity. I am particularly interested in gender identity, gender performativity and ideas of no gender at all.
Challenging conventional ideas of masculinity as well as the portrayal of the female body in the media are important factors for
me.
