Hey, I'm Emma Batsheva. An artist-designer, or at least, that's what I fill-in on forms.
You can also see me as a type of maker, (re)thinker or another one of those passionate Artistic Directors.
I still don’t know, but I decided to embrace that I love to wear that many hats.
Besides fashion, an o
bsession for perfumery and using old magazines as notepads, I graduated with Cum Laude from Design Academy Eindhoven. These ingredients, combined with a few jobs as an artistic director to finance my studies led me to start a design studio in my dad’s old garage. Since then, I navigate between objects, spaces and concepts, to minimize waste(s) and maximize potential(s).
As a Designer, I dedicate my practice to merging contemporary techniques with craftsmanship, focusing on durability enhanced by artisanal gestures. As an Artist, I weave materials, systems, and aesthetics both in the physical and digital world.
Despite navigating diverse fields and scales, my focus remains on the core principles of durability and sustainability. My playground is fueled by a search for effective usage of ressources in pursuit of a positive impact on production processes.
I explore closed-loop material cycles and scalable solutions that prioritize craftsmanship. By collaborating with skilled artisans, I examine each machine, tool, and gesture to generate new methodologies—modern expressions of sustainability and nature-inclusive designs. Through my work, I continually discover new perspectives across scales, ressources, and senses.
