genius and the call to claim the title is a hopeless pursuit. We are neither Gods nor kings. Depose God and overthrow the monarchy, but remain a hypocrite, for that is sacred fruit."

So sounded a point in my manifesto written during a course in the spring semester the year before graduation. The point, born from a book, Gods and Kings, The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano by Dana Thomas, caught my interest by merely its title. The comparison of two fashion designers to that of a higher, holy power and monarchy was a revelation to me. I had never before heard a connection to genius so direct and unequivocal and with a thesis in front of me I found this myth firmly rooted in my subconscious. There my fascination was born. I wanted to understand the myth of the creative genius and more importantly, examine its effectiveness in my own practice. The collection is therefore about using this deeper understanding of the creative genius to visualize it and break myself free from the need to achieve similar heights. As a result, I have chosen to design the collection with a narrative structure where each look reflects a stage in a creator's life and to shape my work process, with the help of my research, in such a way as to break the grip the myth holds on my creative process.
