STEINN / made in collaboration with Maison Alaïa
the collection "Steinn" has been influenced by a trip to Iceland a few years ago.
Back then I was fascinated by the harsh lava rock formations and their unique textures, which I could see up close during a Vulcano eruption.
I brought back some lava
stones with me, which became inspiration for my textil and color research.
Being a potter myself, I met an ceramic artist in Iceland, who's working around big vases. These perfectly constructed shapes inspired me and I aimed to translate them into knitwear and fully fashioned/partical knitted the skirt part of the dress.
The upper part is mainly inspired by Alaïa´s sportive cut-lines from the 90´s jersey dresses.
The second look works more around the fragility of the lava stones and is translated in bespoke lace.
The collection is finished with a vulcano leather bag with knitted lining, made in collaboration with an accessories designer.
