MA graduate collection - Homo Technologicus (Womenswear)
Concept of the collection:
Inspired by the term "Homo Technologicus" which describes a state that we are evolving due to the reliance on technology use. However, who are we now as human-being? And what kind of changes happening around us? To v
isualise the changes, I explored the space when people use their phones and tried to convey the imagined scene with the print design.
Combined with the retro-futuristic aesthetic, this collection aims to explore and predict the possible changes happening around us and the future, primarily through creative pattern cutting and print design. First, observing the phone using postures, I added the paddings to the mannequin and tried to recreate their expanded space to explore the possible patterns and innovative design details. And the print design designed a floral sign with a square in the centre representing the combination of phone and human. I imagine the world with "new species" surrounded by invisible nets to visualise the scene of the cyber world based on personal interpretation.
By visualising the possible changes with collection design; from Look 1 to Look 5, the ratio of printed organza is gradually taken over by the printed satin, which shows a sense of in-between-ness. In other words, this collection conveys the invisible tension and the undefined changes between technology and people through fashion design.
