Before mass production, DIY was common
practice and the skills needed to provide for
one’s basic needs were traditionally handed
down through generations. These skills
are now mainly practiced by craftsmen and
dedicated hobbyists due to the apparently
greater convenience of purchasing a
new item when
ever needed, as opposed
to maintaining an older one.
