ANTHROPYRE: A/W 2020

Anthropyre is a unisex, sustainable hybrid collection about human caused forest fires.
The inspiration came about from a personal experience where a 15-year-old boy caused a forest fire that raged in my hometown for 3 months and destroyed the forests I used to hike & explore as a child. Using these

touch points, my collection shows the never ending power struggle between man and nature. The color palette of Anthropyre was created by corrupting and exaggerating natural forest tones. Layering, raw edges, and organic shapes were used to represent both layers of damage and repair. Root system embroidery is a key surface detail because roots are the beginning of a plant's active life, but also can often be the only remaining part of vegetation after a forest fire.
All of the materials in my collection are deadstock, recycled or organic, from fabrics to yarns and thread, using limited waste patterning and overdyeing techniques.
Anthropyre is a celebration of the potential of sustainability, and of fashion itself.
