Pit Brow AW20 // A Spatial Ghost
The collection is a celebration of blue-collar women and their integral but overlooked presence in the 1900’s British mining industry. The garments draw a mood of melancholic beauty and grit, rich with tactile and visual t
exture. Derived from the mine shafts, the pattern cutting methods mimic the architecture of these human-wormholes and archival mining equipment. In partnership with the National Coal Mining Museum for England, the collection pays homage to rugged industrial heritage and labor communities while recognizing the need for a forward-thinking future. In collaboration with Bonnie Hvillum of the Natural Material Studio in Denmark, a flexible charcoal composite with air filtration properties is a leather-like staple throughout the collection. The composite is a compound of active charcoal and naturals binders.
