The class of 2020 had to rethink, reinvent and re-evaluate the ways they could fabricate chaotic order from disturbing silence of the world on pause. Lockdown has fostered new, innovative ways of creation, encouraged hyper-focus, has induced panic and has given students time to dig deeper than ever.
Like all the institutions around the world, the ROYAL ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS ANTWERP closed its building due to the pandemic, face-to-face teaching was abandoned, and the live graduate show cancelled. Instead of its flamboyant celebration of mad brilliance on the catwalk - which would have taken place in the beginning of June - for the first time in its storied history the Academy presented its fashion graduate collections through dynamic digital platform WWWSHOWWW instead.
