This is a narcissus restitution because there is a wrong usage about this word nowadays.
Most of people use it in a negative way : shutting down on oneself, refuse to rely on the others... But Ovide’s myth says: dare to be yourself - not get into line - refuse all norms that blow y
our freedom out of the water.
My project is divided in 2 parts.
The first one illustrates this definition throught all bodies (ages, shapes, colors..) shot in nature (in reference to 20’s land art, where artists were using earth to represent bodies in order to reclaim identity from racial oppression).
The 2nd part would be a “carte blanche” given to the models to illustrate the real definition. It would be portraits in a neutral background with clothes, makeup or accessories they feel good with but not really confortable to show up with in most of the places, public spaces... That would be the process in order to become Narcissistic, refuse norms and feel free.
