"Rébus"
It all began with a collection of plates left to creator of the brand, Marion Gauban Cammas by her grandmother. The
plates, created by historic manufacturer, Gien, in the 19th century are illustrated with rebuses - a series of illustrations
that once interpreted can form words, then sentences

...

that are as complicated to decode as they are fascinating to
discover. In collaboration with the pottery works, Gien, Proêmes de Paris present their collection for Autumn/Winter
2016 - an exploration into the ties that bind fashion and literature. Throughout the collection, the six rebuses that make up
the eponymous collection of plates are depicted. Adorning Gobelin tapestry, the illustrations repurpose all of the original
rebuses used by the manufacturer in the 1800s. Reimagined in colour on the woollen and waterproof pieces, the rebuses
express themselves in a series of new colours. While certain jersey pieces feature deconstructed rebuses, “Le travail est
source de toute richesse” is shown in it’s entirety on a sweatshirt. Proêmes de Paris continues their research into new cuts
and rounds off the Autumn/Winter collection with classic pieces with finely honed shapes that showcase an assured and
romantic feminine silhouette.
