As in previous years, the winners showcase a wide spectrum of different types of building, giving an insight into how diverse the profession has become in recent decades.

Borlem Prize
New York–based artist Daniel Turner is the inaugural recipient of the 2021 Borlem Prize. The prize will each year go to an artist whose oeuvre brings awareness to mental health issues and struggles. In light of the award, Turner has chosen the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as the recipient of a donation to be made in his name. The Borlem Prize was created in the memory of Fernando Toscano (1986-2018). A 58 page monograph with an essay by curator Elena Filipovic accompanies this award.

Wolf Prize
Elizabeth Diller, Momoyo Kaijima and Yoshiharu Tsukamoto of Atelier Bow-Wow are this year’s Architecture laureates of the Wolf Prize, one of Israel’s most prestigious international awards highlighting scientists and artists for "their achievements in the interest of mankind".
Elizabeth Diller received the award in recognition for "her exceptional and influential work connecting architecture to artistic practice, engaged in the public domain", the jury citing works such as Blur Building, the High Line, and the Mile-Long Opera performance. The co-founders of Atelier Bow-Wow, Momoyo Kaijima & Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, were recognized for their human-centred approach to architecture and their focus on the social effects of design.

Prix Nouvelles Écritures de la
Photographie Environnementale
Chloé Azzopardi, Alisa Martynova and Maxime Taillez are the winners of the 7th edition of the 2022 Prix Nouvelles Écritures de la Photographie Environnementale at the Festival Photo La Gacilly. Organized in association with Fisheye, the prize aims to support a new generation of photographers bringing a fresh perspective to the challenges of contemporary society.
The French Chloé Azzopardi was selected for her series "Écosystèmes" in which beings of all species seem to merge. The Russian Alisa Martynova in her series "Nowhere Near" highlights young African migrants met in Italy. In his series "Frontières" Maxime Taillez invites us to take a different look at the surrounding territory, closer to reality.

AIA Architecture Awards
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is recognizing 11 projects with its 2022 Architecture Awards. The 2022 Architecture Award program celebrates the best contemporary architecture and highlights the many ways buildings and spaces can improve lives. The nine-member jury selects submissions that demonstrate design achievement, including a sense of place, purpose, history, and environmental sustainability. The selected projects include commercial, residential, and civic typologies, all designed by US-licensed architects.

AIA Interior Architecture Awards
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is recognizing seven projects with its 2022 Interior Architecture Awards. The 2022 Interior Architecture program celebrates the most innovative interior spaces. The five-member jury evaluates entries based on design achievement, including sense of place and purpose, community access, ecology and environmental sustainability, and history.
