Eyes on Talents member and industrial designer Guillaume Markwalder graduated from ECAL in Industrial & Product Design and HES-SO Master in Innovation Management. His project Z3 is an alarm clock mainly designed for deaf people, like him. The goal is to create a new typology that would emphasize the relationship between the user (deaf or not) and the object, based on three key aspects: the proximity between the alarm clock and the user, the vibrating alarm and the sleep tracking system. Made from a knitting technology, the wristband holds a very thin, small and lightweight device which is the alarm clock and the sleep tracking system, allowing users to have a direct contact with the vibrating alarm. The alarm’s vibratory pace changes every day on a random basis to avoid familiarization, and the sleep tracking system monitors the sleep in order to wake up the user at his light sleep stage.
