Sophia Taillet

Eyes on Talents member, Sophia Taillet, has joined this year the official collection of the Mobilier national with a piece entitled Venus, a blown glass luminaire created for the gallery 13Desserts. With its undulating surface and organic curves, Venus reinterprets the traditional technique of blown glass, originally used for stained glass windows. During its creation, the glass disc gradually curves before freezing in time, delicately capturing the ephemeral nature of the material's flexibility. With this piece, Sophia Taillet seeks to express the materiality of glass, giving the impression of an organic, living object.
Sophia Taillet is a French designer based in Paris who mainly develops objects in collaboration with glass artisans. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, she pays particular attention to exploring materials as triggers for the imagination. Sophia Taillet approaches the creation of her objects as sculptures, guided by intuition and experimentation to transcend the possibilities of glass.
