Matthieu Litt

Eyes on Talents member, Matthieu Litt participates in the Melting Islands exhibition to be discovered at the Hangar in Brussels until July 8. Focused on the inherent fragility of islands influenced by a range of environmental, economic and social factors, the Hangar invited 4 photographers to present a project that illustrates some of these challenges. Matthieu Litt's series, Terra Nullius, captures the melting of permafrost on islands as they release large amounts of carbon dioxide and methane, potent greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Terra Nullius plunges us into a poetic contemplation while keeping us aware of the threat to these landscapes.
Sensitive to issues relating to the environment and consumption, Matthieu Litt is mainly interested in the notion of distance and rapprochement. In his concurrently contemplative, enigmatic and poetic work, he seeks to blur the lines and reference points between images from radically different horizons or contexts.
