Kalou Dubus

Eyes on Talents member, Kalou Dubus' first major solo exhibition, Délos, is being held at the Galerie Desprez Breheret until December 23, 2022. Touched by the power of this Cycladic island near Tinos where she lives and works part of the year, the artist has chosen to make it the starting point for the development of her new pieces. Kalou invites us through her creations in her instinctive and sacred universe. Are presented works that refer to the architectural vocabulary of antiquity but also to the modernist buildings of Wright or Kahn such as Archipelago, a set of four low tables in concrete, Titan a monumental totem or Spéos, architectural light sculptures.
A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, Kalou Dubus has been developing a singular body of work for 20 years. She rediscovered ceramics in 2015, a practice she has been familiar with since childhood. In the impetus of a return to her roots, the artist began to explore in her studio the possibilities offered by this medium, and its modernist corollary, concrete.
