Grand Prix Photography & Sustainability
Laura Bonnefous is one of the four winners of the Grand Prix Photography & Sustainability created to award photographic series with an environmental perspective trying to raise awareness on the ecological issues related to the fashion industry. Her series FAILLES formulates the exploration and introspection of a territory. A poetic journey to Japan, on the island of Kyushu, a volcanic region. Far from the inventory and the description, it is an instinctive and sensitive dive into the atmosphere of those spaces where bodies, shapes and colors enter into a dialogue. The collaboration with Maison Issey Miyake brings this sensitive dialogue mixing fabric, faces and landscapes.

Chaumont-Zaerpour for Itinérance Méditerrannée, one of the four winners of the Grand Prix Photography & Sustainability. Chaumont-Zaerpour documented the non-profit association Itinérance Méditerranée in Guermessa, a Tunisian village nestled in the mountains. Itinérance Méditerrannée brings back craftsmanship into the production of ready-to-wear brands to support women's communities and safeguard the heritage of the Mediterranean. Caroline and Alexia created this non-profit association with the will to dig into ancestral craftsmanship from Berber people while participating to the valorization and the emancipation of the women. « Je dis, en résumé, que toutes les femmes de mon pays, sont des femmes, et bien plus encore . » (quote from ITINÉRANCE website).

Thibaut Grevet for ERE, one of the four winners of the Grand Prix Photography & Sustainability for the series "future shock". ERE is the philanthropic organization that invited a creative team to produce a photo editorial, with the only rule being to work exclusively with materials available on site. The entire artwork was created in one of Le Relais Val de Seine clothing sorting facilities in Paris suburbs. Thibaut Grevet captured Imruh Ashra’s fascinating creation of nine textile sculptures, made from materials considered as waste. Model and activist Nella Ngingo, dressed with recycled hair pieces by Yann Turchi and make-up by Marie Duhart. Set designer Julien Cavallina created a mesmerizing decor using disposed materials sourced on site.

Grand Prix Photography & Sustainability
Alice Mann, one of the four winners of the Grand Prix Photography & Sustainability. Her series is an exploration into emphasising sustainability when creating images. This was manifested in terms of the environment created amongst those on the shoot, in terms of production (utilising small and focused teams, and all natural light), and by working exclusively with brands who care about people and nature. The series was styled by Marianthi Hatzikidi, who in her practice highlights female and artisanal brands, as well as vintage pieces, and modelled by real life friends Georgia Graham and Georgia Moot, who were both involved in the direction of the shoot. « As a small, female group, we hope to express a playful and alternative way to making images, while highlighting an earnest appreciation of simplicity. » (Alice Mann).

Carolyn Drake
HCB Award
Carolyn Drake won the HCB Award 2021 organised by the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris for her project Centaur (working title). With Centaur (working title), Carolyn Drake furthers her series Knit Club by returning to the community that received her for several months in the Mississippi hills. She continues to experiment with documentary fiction by focusing on the only male figures of Knit Club, two artists and craftsmen who preferred the status of outsider to the one imposed on them by the conservative establishment. Through these two characters, Drake seeks to undermine the ideals of masculinity made mythical by American culture.Image: From the series Knit Club, 2020.

Grand Prix Les femmes s'exposent
Jeanne Frank won the Grand Prix of the festival Les femmes s'exposent in parternship with FUJI. This award is dedicated to climate change. On October 2nd 2020, the storm Alex ravaged several valleys in the Alpes-Maritimes, including the Roya, the most isolated. Torrential rains fell within hours. "This is a subject that I have followed for several weeks, it is particularly close to my heart. We must continue to document this situation, the daily life of the population. The roads no longer exist and it will take years before there will be connections between the villages again. It is a long-term, collaborative work, not "news". And to see that rewarded at the festival Les Femmes s'exposent is a great recognition." said the photographer Jeanne Frank.
