PAD Awards
The 2022 winners of the PAD (Paris Design + Art) Awards have been revealed. The Galerie Desprez Breheret (Paris), specializing in 20th century decorative arts and designer furniture, received the Best Stand Award. The MANIERA gallery (Brussels) received the Contemporary Design Object Award with Studio Mumbai’s Dining Chair II. Finally, the Galerie Alexandre Guillemain (Paris) received the 20th Century Design Object Award with a lamp by Frank Lloyd Wright made in 1914 for the house of Francis W. Little in Waysata-Minnesota.

Prix Meret Oppenheim
Created in 2001 by the Federal Office of Culture in collaboration with the Federal Art Commission, the Swiss Grand Award for Art / Prix Meret Oppenheim is awarded on the recommendation of the Commission to artists, architects, curators, researchers, and critics, whose internationally renowned work is of particular relevance and importance to Swiss artistic and architectural practice. This year the recipients are the artists Caroline Bachmann and Klodin Erb, as well as the civil engineers duo Jürg Conzett & Gianfranco Bronzini.

New Generation Photography Award
The Winners of the 2022 New Generation Photography Award are Séamus Gallagher, Marisa Kriangwiwat Holmes and Clara Lacasse. In their work, these artists combine mediums to explore identity and culture in a variety of ways, layering realities with additions, construction and artifice. Their work is being exhibited in Toronto as part of the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, and a selection of the artists’ work will be presented at the National Gallery of Canada later in the year.

Dorchester Industries Experimental Design Lab
Artist Theaster Gates and fashion house Prada have revealed the inaugural cohort for their Dorchester Industries Experimental Design Lab, a three-year incubator programme aimed at supporting Black designers. The 14 awardees were chosen by industry leaders including Gates, Prada Group founder Miuccia Prada, writer and director Ava Duvernay, late designer Virgil Abloh, and architect David Adjaye. The designers and artists of colour were selected for demonstrating extraordinary achievements in their respective fields.

Circulation(s) festival
30 young artists from all over Europe, with a focus on the Armenian artistic scene, have been selected to participate in the 12th edition of the Circulation(s) festival with a program that reveals the vitality, creativity and diversity of emerging photography. The festival takes place from April 02 to May 29 2022 at the CENTQUATRE-PARIS, a cultural venue in eastern Paris, then contines in the form of tours and off-site events in France and Europe. Circulation(s) festival brings together the general public and professionals around a program that questions the boundaries between photography and contemporary art.

Guggenheim Fellowships
The Guggenheim Foundation announced the 2022 recipients of its fellowships, which are prized by artists because they can offer key funding at a significant stage of one’s career. Among the 180 winners this time around are photographers, filmmakers, and painters, in addition to a selection of writers, mathematicians, scientists, and academics. Winning a Guggenheim Fellowship is considered a grand achievement for an artist. The funding that the award comes with can allow creators of all kinds to undertake particularly ambitious projects.

Bob Berkebile
Edward C. Kemper Award
Bob Berkebile, environmentalist and preservationist, focuses on improving the quality of life in our society through the work of his Kansas City-based firm BNIM. In 2009, he received a Heinz Award for his role in promoting green building design and for his commitment and action to America's communities. Among his contributions to his industry, Bob Berkebile is the founding chairman of the American Institute of Architects’ National Committee on the Environment (AIA / COTE) and was also instrumental in the formation of the US Green Building Council and its LEED rating system.
