This candleholder was designed shortly after Hurricane María struck Puerto Rico. Created with debris left behind by the destruction caused, the design is meant to highlight the absence of electricity that the island experienced throughout a period of 11 months due to the damage the Hurricane caused t
o its power grid. The object was created taking advantage of the overwhelming debris in order to meet a basic human need after disaster. The design is meant to be raw and demonstrate how beauty and functionality can rise out of destruction.
