“Involution” is a BA project in Fashion and Costume Design exploring recessed forms and negative space as a way of working with clothing and the body.
The project emerged from my interest in inner attention, perception, and the experience of inward movement. In searching for a way to express this di
rection through form, I gradually developed an investigation of recesses, voids, and inward volumes as a constructive principle within dress.
Through a series of sculptural garments, the project examines how negative form can transform the silhouette, create new relationships between the body and clothing, and influence the perception of form. In some cases, the form interacts directly with the body; in others, it exists alongside it, generating its own spatial presence and redefining the boundaries between body, object, and surrounding space.
An important source of inspiration for the artistic research was the work of modernist sculptors, who approached voids not as an absence of material but as an active component of form. Positioned at the intersection of fashion and sculpture, the project investigates the relationship between body, form, and space through the concepts of recessed form and negative space.
