ailand. According to the latest UNHCR reports, Thailand currently has around 106,000 registered refugees from Myanmar, while an unknown number of migrants and internally displaced people are living in the country without legal status. These figures highlight the scale of the crisis and the urgency of taking adequate measures to protect and assist this vulnerable population.

Despite the Thai government’s efforts to improve access to education for migrant children, many Myanmar children remain excluded from school. Language barriers, financial hurdles and a lack of documents are some of the obstacles that make access to education difficult. This leads to a high proportion of unregistered children who do not receive a formal education.

To counteract this problem, some non-governmental organisations have set up so-called Migrant Learning Centres (MLCs), which give children the hope of improving their education. Migrant Learning Centres in Thailand are educational institutions set up specifically for migrant children and youth to give them access to formal and informal education. These centres were created to meet the needs of children who do not have access to regular schools due to their migration status or other social barriers.

I had the privilege to photograph four Migrant Learning Centres (MLCs), which were founded and build thanks to the support of Help Without Frontiers.
