"Exquisite counterfeits” investigates the phenomenon of so called “selfie museums”, which spread in Seoul since the advent of social media culture. Focusing on the tension between these spaces’ creation of naturalistic backgrounds and their contemporary social function, the project aims to reveal the
sublime artificiality of those extreme constructed environments. By purposefully shifting the perspective on the backgrounds, the photographs let the fantasy of the environments clash with the glitches that reveal their forgery.
