A customer bring back from his last trip to Petra (Jordan) a antique nabatean coin dated from around 10 BC to 40 AD and he wanted it to be set in rose gold as a pendant. I was so honoured to work with such historic piece!
To reveal the inscription and the motifs, I had to proceed to a light restorat
ion, but in making sure to keep the particular green patina: to clean it without denaturing it was a very important aspect for me.
Then, my biggest challenge was to make a oval pendant giving the illusion of smoothness using this very irregular coin.
To be able achieve this objective, I choosed the lost wax technique that allow me to cheat with the form and make sure that the coin would be securely set in place.
