HOPE KNITTERS: A FASHION WITH PURPOSE PROJECT by self taught fashion designer and social entrepreneur Genaro Alberto Rivas Ravelo

During the pandemic I had to close a substantial part of my business. This I saw as a blessing in disguise, because ever since I started to develop products with different teams of artisans of the outskirts of Lima.

From fashion accessories, to garments and even hand made rugs. Everything with a purpose: give fashion a purpose by giving jobs opportunities to different teams of artisans (95% of women). Working with sustainable materials and practices along the way.

By have them develop this products they not just get means to live, but also the experience. My goal is to gain tools to share with them, so they can develop and enhanced their own ventures in fashion.

All these collections were made remotely. And I want to learn more so I can develop this business idea and work with other teams of artisans from around the globe.

Fashion is a business, however working in the 2nd most polluted industry give all of us the responsibility of doing something. That something is enhanced the live of others and producing in a more sustainable way with not just sustainable materials but also a sustainable vision of the future.

My name is Genaro Rivas, I am a self taught fashion designer and social entrepreneur. I currently live in London, were I am attending the amazing London College of Fashion MA in Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

This is not just a B2C idea is also a B2B. Over the past year I have develop products and collaborations for brands like Coca Cola, LG, Bioderma and others. These brands believe in my vision and had me design products for their campaigns. Products made by women, with sustainable materials, products with purpose. I also managed to have these teams work with retailers. When I develop my collection in collaboration with Ripley, a department store from Peru. I managed to introduce not just sustainable materials, but also have two of my Hope Knitters teams working developing these products. I also have keep working with them designing the garments of my different collections, some of them were showcased in San Francisco Fashion Week.

What was wonderful about it, its that after the collection was sold out, they kept working with the retailer as their supplier. And this is what Fashion With Purpose is all about.

Imagine if you could help me out to get this vision refined, but allowing me to have access to more tools so I can enhanced it?

I am a hard working determined entrepreneur and social fashion designer, I want to make a positive impact in the world by doing what I am passionate about: create collections and products. but wanna do it impacting the live of others.
