The project, Looking for Materials, aims to search for alternative ways of engaging with fashion design. By drawing inspiration from personal wardrobe practice and the action of dress, the intention was to activate more of the tacit knowledge within the hands that comes to life when curating outfits
in a closed personal space. Or in other words, to find out how tacit knowledge can be better utilised, reaching for the extremes of abilities of making and opening for a greater scope within a design process, challenging usual way of thinking and finding new ways of knowing and modes of doing.
Looking for Materials consists of 33 pieces created from discarded readymades. The assemblage of garments were dissected, collaged and attached together in a new form, which later were manipulated with different hand knitting techniques to further develop shape in close contact with a physical body.
