He was mentored by LuluTan-Gan, Marian Pastor-Roces, and Budji Layug. In the said competition he was able to master his edgy and modern aesthetic in leather and metals. In 2018, THIAN RODRIGUEZ was recognized as one of “100 Hottest Filipino Designers” around the globe in the Illustrado Magazine Dubai 12th year anniversary issue. In addition, he also won the 11th International Footwear Design Competition
2019 in Guangzhou, China for his “Magdalena” entry. He topped the “Female Trendy” category and bagged the Silver award for the Xinhaopan Group Scholarship Award for the overall category.
