In 2017, he founded ATELIER SUMBIOSIS, a textile finishing laboratory where science and craftsmanship intersect. His research explores dyeing processes using microalgae, patterns created by insects, and bacterial printing on textiles. Inspired by the virtuous principle of symbiosis, he develops innovative collaborations between living organisms and soft materials.

Awarded the prestigious Villa Kujoyama residency in 2023, he pursued research into pigments derived from sea urchins in partnership with Sorbonne University. This work led him to Japan, where he established collaborations with master textile artisans.

Alongside his artistic practice, he regularly teaches in higher education institutions, addressing new approaches to design research and the creative challenges of working with living systems, notably at ENSCI-Les Ateliers, ENSAD Paris, and Institut Français de la Mode.

Selected by the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès in 2019, he joined the “Académie des Savoir-Faire Textile” program before entering a residency at BDMMA Paris, where he developed ornamental works using natural pigments in collaboration with artisans and designers. These pieces, combining highly skilled techniques transposed to the scale of objects and architectural spaces, quickly attracted the attention of the luxury industry. Over the past three years, Tony Jouanneau has notably collaborated with Dior, Hermès, and Boucheron on the creation of large-scale artworks for boutiques around the world.

Among his distinctions, he recently received the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, an important recognition of his innovative commitment to craftsmanship and sustainable creation.
