uture is a mix between the DIY movement, the Queer craft movement, and couture. I see DIY and couture as opposites. DIY has a low value and haute couture is the lyx in luxurious. In this equation, Queer craft is not even to be considered because it is unexposed for the public. It is about using the knowledge, techniques, craftsmanship and expand them to new material and to give them a new purpose.

I’m obsessed with weddings and the phrase ”something new, something borrowed (and something blue)” has been a part of how I chose my techniques. This project started with a focus on three techniques, beading, braiding, and filling. The three chosen techniques were chosen because I saw a clear gradient between the materials. The beads are hard and static, the filling gives volume and a soft impression and the braids have both qualities.
