This project was developed as a personal project for my Master degree in Interior Architecture and Design. It is based on a collection of 19th Century Orientalist piece of art reunited in the frame of an exhibition at the Victor Hugo museum in Paris in 2010, around the author poems compilation «Les O

rientales», and offers a contemporary view on Romantic Orientalism.
I decided to use this collection and showcase it in the museum De La Vie Romantique (Romantic Life Museum), a peaceful haven out of time located in Paris new Athen area.

The exhibition is organized in five sections.
The four-first rooms display the paintings and artefacts in a theatrical way. This direct staging is inviting the visitors through the myths of romanticism and Orientalism, where dreams and reality fade in one another. It is a journey going from heroic battles, erotic violence, to mysterious harem and sublimated fantasy of femininity. The collections are exhibited as theatre decors, setting up this view on Orient as a fiction, a heterotopia as would Michel Foucault define it.
The fifth and last part of the exhibition is taking place in the museum famous and intimate garden. The space is furnished to offer a place for talking. A program of conferences and interview could take place here, with intervention of lecturers, artists and scholars on questions of Orientalism and decolonization, offering the visitors an opportunity to finish their journey on contemporary interrogations.
