I had a long journal on drawing that is about present ideas in a 2D way. After that, I want to present some of my idea on specific objects like rings, necklaces, bags, and shoes, which is making my work in a 3D way. After two years of academic studying at Beijing University of Technology, I decided t
o explore my skills in Jewellery design. The design process has triggered my stronger motivation and ambition to keep probing into this field.
Throughout my studying journey in Central Saint Martin, chronologically I have engaged myself in various attempts in different realms and made impressive performances in the Jewellery field. As a freshman, I learned the technique of metalwork and leatherwork. Then I focus on the concept of my design. To be more specific, I want to present to people that I am interested in fine Jewellery and combine street elements into my work. I could integrate ideas, drawing sketches, selecting raw materials and making proofs. During the studying time, we have some collaboration projects with different companies, such as Cartier, Swarovski, Louis Vuitton and Foundling Museum. This is a good opportunity to get to know more about commercial Jewellery and the market. Due to my experience of making Jewellery by hand and also my knowledge leaned from the university about designing theories and skills, I became a huge fan of street style jewellery, which I can find a way to present my concept and style.
In 2016, I had an internship as a curator assistant in 798 Art Zone in Beijing which is the most famous gathering place for various artworks, artifacts in China. My job was mainly about writing promotional copy, exhibition implementation, and publicity, etc. Through communicating with artists and visitors from all over the globe, I had a deeper knowledge of how these artworks should be appreciated and accepted. Last summer, I did an internship for Ada Zanditon Couture. This is an accessory brand based in London. I directly talk to the designer and learn a lot of hand-making skills from her, especially in pattern making and leatherwork. After that, I being a graphic design freelancer in MadeIn London, which is a video and short film company based in London and Beijing. I usually make PowerPoint and poster that is present to the client. In the meantime, I also do the shooting plan with my team members. During this experience, I learned how to communicate with different people and computer skills such as Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
